You know.. you keep saying that you don't want consolidation. but you continue to make the argument for it. And also, youre from Clintwood. So why are you standing up so much for the pro-consol people over here? You said that I had a person who agreed with me too much.. you're looking like you're agreeing with Indian_Dad on everything.
I think we are all arguing a mute point for right now, because the school board seems intent on renovating right now other than consolidating, but.......
I've heard many folks from Pound say they might be for consolidation if a new school was to be built out on the four lane.

someones gonna have a LONG ride from Polebridge to Pound or Flat Gap to Wise.

I actually timed my drive to Jenkins yesterday and it took 10 minutes and 9.5 miles to get to the turn-off for South Fork from the Glamorgan intersection. I think it would be safe to say that it's at least a four minute drive from that same South Fork intersection to Pound H.S., so what's that, a 6 minute difference to Wise? So even if the school was in located in close proximity to Wise on the 4 lane, it wouldn't be a significant increase in driving time.
LOL wait, I thought you had facts, not questioning who I agree with or why? Come on, give some facts. Base it on your life experience, your 4 year college experience or your competition in the job market. Feel free.
I said, if you would read (obviously not AP Literature or English) that I was not in favor of it but over time, and realizing how things actually are, not just thinking Go Clintwood (or Go Pound in your case) that improvement has to be made IN THE ENTIRE AREA for this area to improve.
Anybody who has been on this board over a month (and made nearly every post screaming about the evils of consolidation) would know that Indian_Dad have disagreed on many many things. He loves Kelly and doesn't want to see it go, that's something you can't seem to grasp. He realizes that things need to change to provide the best opportunities for his kids. The best opportunities are not for video classes or cyberclasses, but real life teachers.
That's the key. Some who come from one side or closer to the respective schools may have a longer trip, but some are going to be as close or even closer. Using 23 is the key to making any ideas successful.
Yep-have had our rounds. Anybody who is on here a long time will at some point disagree with each other. Hell, there may come a time when I agree with this person (over what damifino-can't seem to get out of the consolidation rut). This is what's best for my kids. Others may not think it is for theirs-matter of opinion.
Yep. If you have opinions, odds are you're going to disagree/agree with someone. I appreciate their argument about loving their school and not wanting them closed. If a valid debate can be made about cost to repair/improve verus building new ones and consolidating, but there is something called diminishing returns. Eventually when the cost to repair or rebuild something is too great, they don't. Think of car insurance. If you have a certain amount of damage done, the insurance will pay for repair. If however it goes past a point, they consider a car totalled.
It kills me to think of my school closing doors. I don't think that folks appreciate that, but those from Wise know the hurt that will come to me personally when it does, but my kids are more important to me than me. I hope rennovation falls on it's arse. I do not want my kids to have to pay AGAIN when it happens again. I figure paying once is enough.
We'll see what the dollar amounts come to. WCSB seems to be on a mission to renovate.
Agreed. I think they figure thats the least hate-filled battle and shoot, by the time the issues roll back around, they'll all be gone
